It is easy to make hard boiled eggs in rice cooker with proper instruction. There are some easy steps you can follow to steam eggs in rice cooker.
Boiling Eggs with the Steamer Basket
A steamer basket or rack is not necessary to boil the eggs in the rice cooker. Follow these steps right below to steam or boil your eggs perfectly.
Firstly, add eggs into the rice cooker inner pot. Then add 3 cups of water of sufficient amount of water until eggs are covered by the water.
Now close the lid and turn on the rice cooker. Boil the eggs for 15-25 minutes depending on how much hard or soft boiled eggs do you want. For soft boiled eggs, it will take only 15 minutes and for extreme hard boiled eggs, it will take 25 minutes. I’ll boil for 20 minutes because I don’t want too much soft or too much hard boiled eggs.
After 20 minutes, turn off and unplug the rice cooker. Then place boiled eggs into the ice water as soon as possible and wait for 1 minute. It will help to stop cooking immediately as well as peel the egg shell easily.
Now eggs are ready to peel off the egg shell/skin.
How to Peel Hard Boiled Eggs?
I assume that you all know how to peel boiled eggs but still I’m going to share the easiest method to peel an egg. This method is only for those who don’t know how to peel a hard-boiled egg.
At first, crack the fat end and then crack the opposite end of the egg. In the fat end, there is always a small bubble that will help to crack and peel the shell.
Now tap on the sides of the egg or press and roll it on a hard surface. This will crack the shell and you can peel easily. Please see the video above to see the process.

Boiling Eggs with the Rice
The great thing about using a rice cooker is that you can cook both eggs and rice at the same time. With these following steps, you can get a complete meal in one go.
Wash both the eggs and rice before you start your cooking. This helps to remove any dirt particles from the meals. It is completely optional, you can skip it if you’re in a hurry.
Fill the inner pot of the cooker with the appropriate amount of water. The amount of water depends on how many cups of rice you are making. You will need to add a half cup more of water to boil the eggs with your rice.
Place the eggs onto the rice grains, ensure that the eggs stand upright, so the bottom of them is down. As I mentioned before, this will help to balance out the yolks and be the ideal finish if you are making deviled eggs.
Cover the cooker with the lid and press the cooker button to start the cooking process. It is recommended to not to lift the lid while cooking or else it may escape the steam.
Finishing the Task
Once your cooking is done, remove the eggs from the cooker using metal or plastic tongs, one by one. Place them immediately into a bowl of cold water. This helps make peeling soft boiled eggs easier. Allow the eggs to cool completely in the ice bath. Serve the boiled eggs immediately or store them in the refrigerator.
